Dave King Minneapolis, Minnesota
Dave King is a drummer and composer from Minneapolis. He is a founding member of jazz groups The Bad Plus and Happy Apple.
He has appeared on more than 100 recordings and played with many jazz luminaries and notable peers. He also created and starred in a renowned drum instructional video series called Rational Funk.

I have been a fan of this band for 18 years. I loved their original, hard-hitting piano trio incarnation up through the early 2010s when I felt they were running out of inspiration. This new guitar and sax quartet feels like a new birth. The music seems to me more meditative and textured, still with sparks flying but a more searching, reflective mood. Long live The Bad Plus!

Epic! The more I listen the more I love it. I honestly can't describe the content in this submission. Every listening reveals a new level. This is a band that BADLY NEEDS TO BOOK SOME GIGS! (Okay. I'm frustrated, having been screwed out of my Bad Plus shows and Seattle basically being THE FRIGGEN KLONDIKE!)
